Sedation dentistry offers a way for Dr. Richard Tutin to provide completely relaxing dental procedures to Framingham patients.
As a DOCs-certified dentist, Dr. Tutin has the skills and expertise to administer sedation methods safely and effectively.
What you should know about Sedation Dentistry:
How does Nitrous Oxide work?
When a patient undergoes sedation with nitrous oxide (or as it’s familiarly known, “laughing gas”), a small mask is placed over their nose and adjusted to provide optimal comfort. At this time, they will only be breathing oxygen. Once the patient is well-situated and has acclimated to the mask and oxygen, Dr. Tutin will begin to introduce nitrous oxide. Treatment will begin when the patient feels totally relaxed. Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Tutin will reintroduce oxygen through the mask. After a minimum of three to five minutes, the patient should feel completely normal.
How does the sedative pill work?
With this method, patients are prescribed a sedative pill to take at home before the appointment. A responsible adult will need to drive you to and from our office. When you arrive for the procedure, you’ll already feel very drowsy. We will situate you in a comfortable chair and cover you with a cozy blanket. During the procedure, we will monitor your vital signs while our skilled team attends to your dental needs. After treatment has been completed, you will be released into the care of your companion, who will accompany you home. By the next day, it’s unlikely you will remember any details of your dental visit.
Pulse oximeter & Blood pressure monitoring
Our patients’ safety is always our top priority, so you can rest assured that our team pays the highest attention to your wellbeing during any sedation method. During sedation dentistry procedures, we carefully and continually monitor blood pressure and pulse along with oxygen saturation levels.
